The oldest plaque in the church was given in memory of James D. Brewer. Horace Twine, in his "History of South Norfolk Baptist Church," gives the following information:

John Roberts was a former Choir Director at SNBC, and brother of organist Gwen Whitehurst:
Mr. L.C. Jernigan was Joe's 5th Grade Sunday School teacher and the class met in a side classroom off the balcony, before the Educational Building was built:
